How to use a Chromebook safely after the 2022 AUE date
Google's policy is to support Chromebooks for at least five years. The updates that Chromebooks receive, which often include new security features, ensure optimal performance for your device.
Because such updates are dependent on device-specific hardware, older Chromebooks may not support some newer Chrome OS features. Before you buy a new Chromebook, check the AUE date to make sure Chrome OS will continue to receive updates for at least a few years.
Google's support site lists expiration dates for each Chromebook model. Select your device manufacturer to find out when your Chromebook will receive its last software update. Alternatively, you can open your Chromebook's settings and go to About Chrome OS > Additional information, then look for the AUE date under Update schedule.
